So, I have been steadily working on getting our Greece photos online. It's more time consuming than I had originally anticipated, but I am really happy with Flickr.com. I've trying to be good about emailing the links to everyone who is interested, but I thought it might be easier to just post them on my blog for now.

Our first stop, after a very long flight, was Crete. We did a pretty good tour of the island, but there is so very much to see and do that we didn't quite get to it all. I was disappointed to not get a chance to do the Samarian gorge, but we did hit Hania, Fallasarna, Matala, Elounda, Agios Nicolaus, Spinalonga, Gortys and of course Fodele, the birth place of the "Zorba the Greek" author.
Next, we went to another famous island - Santorini. This is the volcanic island that is rumored to be the origin of Atlantis stories. It has a unique crescent shape created by a huge volcanoe - which caused the tidal waves that wiped out Minoan Crete. The geography is spectacular, especially the city of Fira which is built off the side of a huge cliff. I was only disappointed by the fact that the archeological site of ancient Akrotiri was closed to the public.
Coming soon - Athens!
